Subscription Based Anti-Viruses |
|
You are required to pay a fee for annual updates. Most subscriptions will last for one year.
*Some will come with a free version, or a free trial.
- McAfee - (LCC Recommended) - I suggest buying only the "Anti-Virus" and not the "Internet Security."
- Panda - Another anti-virus like McAfee. This is easy to use but difficult to undelete needed files.
- AVG - An anti-virus program that does the job, but, from what it seems, less efficiently. There is a free version available as well.
- Norton - A very efficient anti-virus but is widely known to slow down computer performance and internet connection speed.
- NOD32 - (Recommended for power users) Very useful and efficient if you are able to configure it correctly.
- Kaspersky - Another anti-virus similar to McAfee and Panda.
- BitDefender - Popular and user scanner. There is a free version but it does not have real-time scanning.
- ClamWin - It's kind of like BitDefender. Another useful program.

System Tune-Up Utilities
|
Here are some utilities that you may use to make your computer run faster, more efficient, etc. (PLEASE! Consult LCC before use!).
- RegSeeker - This nice little program doesn't install on your system, plus it can get rid of little issues that you may have found on your system.

Anti-Spyware and Anti-Malware |
|
These are basically smaller versions of some of the programs on the left. Some get rid of different kinds of infections, such as malware, spyware, and adware.
- SpyBot - A program that was once more widely used for spyware removal.
- AdAware - Much like SpyBot, is getting a bit outdated, but is still updating it's virus definitions. (Click FREE version).
- HijackThis - Can clean certain items from your computer, plus it generates a log report for later reference. (PLEASE! Consult LCC before use of this program, unless you know what you're doing.)
